Carlow University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104 (267.284.5000). The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. It is the unit of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools that accredits degree-granting colleges and universities in the Middle States region. Carlow University’s next accreditation visit will be in 2025.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master's degree program in nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice program and post-graduate APRN certificate programs at Carlow University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202.887.6791.

The Bachelor of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). CSWE's Commission on Accreditation is responsible for developing accreditation standards that define competent preparation and ensuring that social work programs meet them. CSWE administers a multistep accreditation process that involves program self-studies, site visits, and reviews. Carlow University’s next accreditation visit will be in Fall 2019. The Master of Social Work is in candidacy for accreditation as of July 2018. Carlow University’s Doctor of Psychology in Counseling Psychology program is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). The APA Commission on Accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a programmatic accrediting body. APA Accreditation is a voluntary, nongovernmental process of self-study and external review intended to evaluate, enhance, and publicly recognize quality programs. 

The Carlow University Respiratory Care Program (CoARC program # 200617) offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Respiratory Care at its Pittsburgh PA campus and holds Provisional Accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care. This status signifies that a program that has been granted an Approval of Intent has demonstrated sufficient compliance to initiate a program in accordance with the Standards through the completion and submission of an acceptable Provisional Accreditation Self Study Report (PSSR), completion of an initial on-site visit, and other documentation required by the CoARC. The conferral of Provisional Accreditation denotes a new program that has made significant progress towards meeting the Standards of Accreditation. The program will remain on Provisional Accreditation until achieving Continuing Accreditation. It is recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) toward eligibility to the Respiratory Care Credentialing Examination(s). Enrolled students completing the program under Provisional Accreditation are considered graduates of a CoARC accredited program.


The Carlow University BSRC Online Degree Completion program is not accredited through the CoARC.
