Living in the Residence Halls
Carlow University is home to two residence halls: Frances Warde Hall and Dougherty Hall. They are connected to each other, and the buildings are in a central location on campus.
For planning your living arrangements, the Office of Residence Life put together a helpful list of What To Bring. Be sure to also review the list of prohibited items at the end of the list.
Residence Life Staff
The residence halls are staffed by the assistant director of campus life, three live-in graduate resident directors, and most importantly, 12 resident assistants (RAs). RAs live with the students on their respective floor sections. They help to manage the residence hall, communicate important information to residents on the floors, advise and refer students who are experiencing difficulties, plan programs and events, help students adjust to a group-living environment, and maintain an atmosphere conducive to academic pursuits
Our double rooms are about 12x16 ft and may vary in style based on their position within the building.
Each room offers the following features:
- wall-to-wall carpeting
- 2 twin beds (most rooms have XL Twins)
- 2 desks with chairs
- 2 chests of drawers
- 2 wardrobes/closets
- 1 micro-fridge
- 1 window air-conditioner unit
- and each student gets an account for live, streaming HDTV with DVR from Comcast
The third floor lounge is a special place in Frances Warde Hall with comfy seating, a fireplace, and a big-screen TV. This room is an entertainment center on campus that houses a pool table and offers plenty of open space where students can get together and unwind. There are also 11 other lounges within the residence halls, a full kitchen available to students on the third floor, a computer lab, and even several small study rooms.
Just follow the steps of the housing process.
