Carlow University welcomed its first men's soccer team to campus in the fall of 2016. The Celtics played the program's first match Sept. 9, against Bethel (Ind.) College, at the Point Park Tournament. They made history by earning the program's first win, 2-0, against Penn State New Kensington, on Sept. 15. They won their first River States Conference (RSC) match on Oct. 13, defeating Ohio Christian, 2-0.

The Celtics play their home games at Highmark Stadium, the city's newest professional stadium, located on the shore of the Monongahela River in Station Square, an entertainment complex on Pittsburgh's South Side just 15 minutes from Carlow's Oakland campus. The team competes in at least 18 contests per season as a member of the RSC.
