Can be completed in one or two years. Courses offered in
hybrid and online in an 8-week format. Only one night a week
at Carlow's Oakland campus.

Students pay only $614.00 per credit. Tuition is $600.00 per
credit with a $14.00 fee. No hidden fees or extra

Creativity & Innovation in Curriculum
We go beyond traditional coursework. Students experience inquiry
models of instruction, technology fluency training,
interdisciplinary models, and so much more by being active
participants in pedagogy.
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
Out-of-school learning and non-formal education competencies
will be embedded in this unique program. Program participants not
employed in school settings will complete a three-week practicum in
nonprofit or community-based organizations, including museums and
outdoor learning centers.
CREATE LAB EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
Carlow University is a Satellite of CMU's CREATE Lab. All
program participants will complete a course EDUC 728,
Interdisciplinary Models, where technology fluency and emerging
technologies will be highlighted. Students have access to
innovative robotic technology and advanced professional
development.
IMMERSIVE SCHOOL-BASED PLACEMENTS
A three-semester program sequence (fall, spring, and summer)
allows immersive placements in high schools during the academic
year. As a result, program participants will have an option to be
employed in high-need teaching fields.
PRACTICUM EXPERIENCE
Practicum supervisors will be on-site school partners in
department chair and administrative positions in high schools
Where Our Graduates Go
The U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics expects jobs for
teachers at most levels to grow faster than the average for all
careers through 2020. Most openings are expected to result from the
retirement of many experienced teachers. Job prospects should be
best in rural and inner-city schools and for teachers in certain
subjects, including math, chemistry, physics, bilingual education,
and world languages.
Through the course of this innovative program, you will become
an initially or a permanently certified teacher, prepared for
creating, shaping, and sustaining transformational learning
environments that focus on your students and their individual
potential for success.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Upon completion of the course requirements in the program, the
student must successfully pass student teaching with a combined
score of 4 or higher on both PDE 430 evaluation forms. The student
must pass the Praxis Content Area exam in his/her discipline. Once
the student has met these requirements, he/she may apply for
