More about us

Through the energies of the offices of Service, Campus Ministry, and Heritage, we promote the dignity of each person, instill a lifelong desire to serve others, enable a community of worship, and nurture individuals in their personal faith journeys.

Carlow University was founded by and continues to be sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. The Center for Mercy Heritage and Service was created in 2007 to enhance our appreciation of our Mercy heritage and to seek creative ways to assure that this rich inheritance remains relevant to who we are and what we do as the community of Carlow University.

The primary application of our mission is in the culture of service which pervades our University community. Service, one of our core values, is a constituent dimension of every person’s life at Carlow. The Vision of the University calls us to develop students as ethical leaders committed to a just and merciful world. To that end, service is integrated into the student experience at all levels in curricular and co-curricular activities.
