Self-Care Tips For Finals Week

Finals are always a tough time! Here's how to take care of yourself.

The stress of preparing for finals can take a toll on emotional and physical health. Here are three tips on taking care of yourself during this hectic time.

  1. Try not to cram. Instead, schedule regular study sessions with breaks in between (for example, study for 45 min intervals with at least a 15 minute break in between, and take that time to do something to clear your mind, like taking a brisk walk or watching silly YouTube videos).
  2. Make sure you get enough rest. Try to keep your sleep schedule consistent over finals week. If you find yourself feeling tense at the end of the day, try drinking some chamomile tea and doing a low-key activity at least an hour before you plan to go to bed.
  3. Don’t overdo the caffeine. Caffeine can be good in moderation for increasing alertness and energy, but in higher amounts can trigger anxiety and disrupt sleep. If you’re already feeling stressed, too much caffeine may only make it worse!
